This seems to be a 4th and 5th gear problem. When I get around 5500 rpm the car wants to stall and the engine starts to miss. Can anyone give me some suggestions and should this throw a error code
What year is your car and how many miles are on it? I'd look first at the basics like spark plugs and plug wires. I don't believe either would throw an error code.
Hmmm, after reading that a few times it sounds more like a fuel problem. Then again, what the hell do I know. I'm usually the guy asking the questions, not answering them.
You must be haulin some serious azz to hit 5500 in 5th gear  :D
I agree with the other post regarding checking your plug wires and ignition components. It does seem strange that it's only doing it in 4th and 5th, of course unless you were being facetious, that is..... :smash:

I was happily minding my own business drivinig around Monterey Del Oro, waiting for the Pebble Concourse D'elegance, when my car began to miss - the thought of driving from Norcal to Socal with something wrong or the car waiting to be fixed really bugged me.
Shame on me for not checking. One of the spark plug wires was too close for comfort to the header - the header fried it. The dealer ripped me off in diagnosing it and fixing it (Billings Chevrolet, San Jose - don't go there!). Even with a GMPP of 100,000 miles, they still made a fuss about the headers...
