I was swapping out an old battery for a new one and noticed a rodent had chewed and broken a few wires on the wiring harness that runs behind the battery shelf. This harness appears to have 50+ wires in it. Does anyone know what this harness controls, what it is called, and how much it might cost? Can this novice DIY'er do this job? I wonder if this could be the reason I have a few codes popping up on my instrument panel.....?.
If it's just a few wires, I'd splice them together with some solder & heat shrink. If it's more than a few wires....good luck, man. Replacing that harness is going to be a real PITA.

You're probably right. From what I can tell, it's only 3 or 4 wires!
I believe that's the same harness I just had repaired in my 1999. Seems like harnesses are very particular for each year and model with their specific options. That harness goes into the PCM and controls most of the sensors under the hood. If it's just a few wires, I'd repair them yourself. If it needs harness ends or lots of help, I'd reach out to Marc at vettenutts. He repaired my harness in a timely manner and I found it to be a better option than rolling the dice on another harness.
