Well let me start by saying that I have been an import person for all of my car-owning life until I bought my 02 Z06 2 months ago. Therefore, the word nitrous brings images of blown engines to my head. Almost everyone I talk to has told me that on an LS6, any wet kit with up to a 150 shot is very safe. I just wanted to hear mainly from those who would disagree with that statement. Any horror stories or bad personal experiences?
I had a dry kit set at 100 on top of heads/cam for a year with no problems. I then raised it up to 150 but used NOS racing octane booster with every fillup as recommended by MTI and had no problems for a half a year. Then I converted my kit to a wet kit set at 150 and it was fine for about two weeks and then BOOM! I thought I blew my engine but I just blew a hole the size of a baseball in the rear of my intake along with all the air intake pieces being shredded and scattered all over the engine compartment. It was time to replace my intake with an LS6 anyway. The cause of this was the solenoid staying stuck open which I think is everyones worst nightmare. My case was rare and I think that as long as you have all the safety features you should be ok. A window switch is a good idea and if you want to be extra careful I would install an extra solenoid just incase one stays stuck open. I don't want to scare you away from nitrous with this story but it really isn't that bad, the bottom end of my motor was completely fine when they opened it up to do the 382 stroker. These LS1/6's are pretty damn tough. Hope this helps.
I've had it for over a year now. I think its awesome, and ive had no problems. Last night on the way home from Monterey, I ate a celica and an NSX pretty easily.
Well, I've had it on several LS1's and never had a problem whatsoever. I had it on my Viper and blew it sky high! I melted 9 out of ten pistons. I'm putting it on my new car, so I guess I'm not scared.

Never had a problem here also. But I must say I really don't need it much anymore unless I go to the track.
That's strange about the viper. What year? My buddies 97 GTS shoots 250 all day long running 6.6's in the eight with e/t streets!
Had mine 1 1/2 years now.
So far, Just a malfunctioning nos solenoid almost caused damage, lucky MMS caught it on their Dyno......
Now I plan to inspect them often.
You should to,
.........................
But I really like to use it at the track.

Check Big Carrot's sig. BTW, C5-Vert, Nice lookin Car!:yesnod: He had an '01 RT/10. She WAS a beauty! :smash: Hey, Carrotman, what went wrong with the Viper:confused: It wasnt too much nitrous, was it?? Forgot and got curious again:D. You should bring the Vette out. SKNR, QUIKAG, White Lightning, etc.... have gone out a few times this week. :seeya
I wouldn't do it. Mine wasn't installed right. I bent a rod. Also it is too unpredictable. It is never there when you need it.
you have to make sure you have bottle pressure, and you have to make sure you pruge the system, and you have to make sure the bottle is on. Too much to do for street racing.

I call it rented HP not real HP.
I call it one button away from any kill. I have had mine now for over six months and so far no problem. I had a best dyno of 556RWHP and 680RWTQ. No fuel issues. I ran on the dyno with A/F in 11.0:1 and then dropping off the map at 6000 RPM.
Hey Kumar. I am from Mesquite area originally. Give me a holler sometime and I will show you the full potential of a Z06 with a ride in my fake one. I just got your tranny and a new setup. Putting down 420RWHP on motor with stock 02 Z06 heads. Can't wait to get my stage II heads back from GTP.

Ok , I agree, Nitrous is not for everyone, but neither are the 10's.

Remember I met you at Speedtek. I was getting my Stinges put on. I am also really curious about that cam of yours. I am thinking of doing it if I can get 30-40 hp.

I thought that was you, but I saw you said something in an earlier post that your car was stock and I thought I saw you getting stingers on your car. May have been an earlier post.
I am always in Mesquite. I will pm you a numnber to reach me at. We can setup some time next week. My girl is coming in town this weekend and needless to say I am going to be busy.

Do you guys run the stock injectors? If so, then how are you getting extra fuel to the cylinders?

If it is a wet system it has a fuel solenoid that shoots the extra fuel in your airbridge, doesn't even have anything to do with the injectors. Now a dry system, I have no clues! :D
Although I have never used it on the C5, I had numerous cars that I did (3 different Vettes) run it on with no real problems, with 1 exception. That is when a nitrous solonoid stuck open when I opened the electic bottle opener. Fortunately I realized what had happened and was quick enough to immediately close the bottle. Lesson#1; don't use 3 year old solonoids. After that I replaced them with new ones every year, cheap insurance :yesnod: They can be rebuilt, but I preferred to rebuild them. Also I would be wary of buying used ones unless you could verify their age.
