Default Diff Fluid leaking.....is this normal after a rebuild/refill?

Just had my diff rebuilt (along with gear swap) and I noticed a lot of gear oil on the rear end of my car, but it has become a lot less since two days ago. I still am getting a small spot of fluid on the floor after parking it (after running it hard on the way home). Is this just extra fluid (overfill) that is working its way out of the line?

When it was rebuilt, were new O-Rings used on the side covers? The covers needed a new O-ring installed, if they weren't, and you need to run a beed of ANAEROBIC gasket sealer on both mating surfaces of the side covers. This will cure your leak.

The toes at the dealer over filled mine during it's last service. I noticed the side of the diff was wet and started seeing drips on the floor. I called the dealer and he suggested I take a wait and see approach for a week or two. I did and it stopped. I called him back to let him know and to ask what happened, he confirmed a new tech over filled the diff and the fluid was seeping from the overfill valve located on top of the housing.

So far with almost 18K miles on my car no more leaks.

Mine did some dripping when new, but it stopped shortly after it started. I'd watch it for a while before heading to the dealer.

Sounds good guys - I know my mechanic put all new seals in and used sealant where necessary.......it must have been overfilled.....thanks!!

If they tried fixing it once and it still leaks ask for a new Diff.
