Default Hello Newbie here with question

Hello all. Newbie here to Forum. Recently purchased a new to me 2004 Convertible Ls1 Automatic Transmission (My Third Vette). While checking the car out, I found some fluid on the bottom of the Transmission pan. Red in color. Not enough to drip on floor after two day sit.
OK, here is where the questions start. The fluid seems to be around the pan gasket area. I cannot see any above the gasket area. GM service records indicate that the pan was replaced under warranty in 2007. I checked the pan attachment bolts, and with a three eights ratchet I could get anywhere from an eight of a turn to half of turn on almost every bolt. Cleaned and ran the car 20 miles, rechecked and pan was dry and I only noticed some slight red at gasket area. I think I will keep an eye on this for now but would appreciate any input.
Second issue with attached Pics.
During this I noticed a "vent" line hanging down. With flash light and mirror I tried to find where it came from. No joy. One pic shows it hanging with both ends indicated. Second pic is where I pulled it on garage floor. Both ends are cut at an angle. The "T" connector is attached to Check valve.
Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Again, happy to be here and extremely happy to be back in a C5. My opinion best one built.

The red fluid is trans fluid (it sounded like you were not sure what it was) If tightening them helped then great, just be careful not to tighten too much because you can warp pans and create a bigger leak.

Not sure about the hose you found...I'm interested in hearing about it.

congrats on your new car! Are you a previous C5 owner? What were the other 2 Vettes you owned?

Default Thanks for reply

First Vette was a C4 MY1993. It was a coupe, Auto tranny, bought it new in 1993. Red over Tan interior. Great car. Sold it in 1998 and got a Porsche. I will let you decide on that choice.
Next Vette was a C5 MY2000. Convertible, Auto tranny ordered it new with Z51 and 3:15 rear end. Wow what a car. Triple Black.
Now the sad news, the car developed the rear differential leak in 2002. took it to dealer and they replaced the differential under warranty. Unfortunately, the car was "T" boned while on service department lot while in for this fix. Right thru the driver door. SOB.
Dealer bought the car back and I have gone without a Vette since. Bought a Gen 2 Viper to keep me amused after that.
Still have the Viper but have always missed the C5.
Fast forward to last week and saw this C5.
Convertible, Triple Black, Auto and had to have it.
I am working on getting things up to the way I like them on it now. On the leak issue, yes I am sure that it is the tranny leaking. With no drips on the floor, most owners would probably never know they have an issue. Just do not like loose ends. The vent line confuses me also and I will post any solution/info I get on it.

Default Loose hose

Bad, I finally found where the line connects and got it connected (lot of fun). I have inserted a pic of a rear end with the body removed showing how it attached and routed. Red arrow shows where it attaches to the top of the tranny and the blue arrow shows the position of the check valve. VH
