Default Header Recommendations

I'm considering putting headers on my C5. I have Corsa Indys and am looking for more performance and a deeper/fuller sound. What do you guys recommend? What were your performance experiences? What were the sound differences? Thanks a bunch.....

I would have to say TPIS is the way to go. My reasonsfor choosing TPIS were proven performance, ease of installation and value. I purchased my header from Shawn at LAPD $850 shipped.

I have Corsa Indy's and picked up some great torque with the LGM Long Tube headers.

I have TTS and I love em.

There's nothing like an increase in horsepower and a decrease in weight. The stock exhaust manifolds are some heavy *****. I know my car lost at least six pounds. I hope you like loud Vettes because once you install the headers, there's no going back

I went with the TPIS Ceramic Coated headers. I have had them for well over a year now. I have taken them to the Track and run them at WOT for many, many Events at Very high temps. To date the Headers have worked beyond my expectations. In the future I will purchase an MTI Heads and Cam for install on my car... looking forward to the new HP I will get from that combo... :)

I have a buddy who bought TPIS and even though I'm sure they are great headers they have been in his garage in a box for a year because he hasn't wanted to cut his stock system and wants to do the install himself.
The FLP package allows you to DIY your headers and retain your stock exhaust in perfect order. The interchangeable OR pipes and hf cats are incredible. A little more money but if you check into all that you get I think probably the best deal.

I bought the TIPS headers and am very happy with them. FLP makes a very nice system though, but the cost is quite a bit more.

I have the stainlessworks headers and I gained over 23HP with them (rear wheel) They are all stainless construction and fit perfectly. CAn't beat the price or performance.

Stainless Works...dyno proven, at a good price.

This topic is kind of "who is the prettiest girl in school". The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All of the headers from forum vendors will give you 17-25 rwhp and 17-30 rwtqm depending on the application.

This is one of the biggest "popcorn" topics on the forum.

Just my .02$

Thanks a lot guys. Sounds like the TPIS may be a good fit. I guess I should be ready for a LOUD ride. Do you get a lot of resonance with the TPIS at crusing speed (5th 6th gear)?

Also how is the crusing sound with some of the others mentioned. Thanks.....

I have been leaning towards the FLP's because its a total system and you don't have to cut or weld anything, and they make good power.

Jay G,
If you plan to do the install yourself then FLP is the way to go. No welding required... and everything is ceramic coated (minus high flow cats) all the way back to the cat-back flange (just in front of rear axle)... x-pipe and offroad pipes that sub for the high flows included.

If you want to retain and modify you existing intermediate pipe then Belangers, IMO, are the best. Expensive at $1195... but you get what you pay for.

We plan on testing LG's LT's in the near future... so cannot comment on them at this time other than to say forum members who have purchased them have nothing but the best of comments.

On a budget? TPIS offers a quality set that like the Belangers requires fitment/welding. Great comments by customers who have had them installed here at Xtreme.

Sound differences between header designs are not much different... definately louder than the stock stamped welded steel headers or cast iron manifolds.

Give Nate a call and talk with him... he'll give you the skinny on all manu's we sell including dyno numbers.

Good luck in your quest;)... thats half the fun :yesnod:
