Default What is happening? Help.

After locking 1998 C5 with remote the horn will (honk periodically) and (doors will unlock). If I remove the battery in the key fob the horn will not honk and doors will not unlock. Has this happened to any one?
If so what is the cure? Thanks.

GM never could get that feature right and abandoned it beginning on the model year 2000 FOB's.
I have the passive on off constantly. Just got back from dealership who informs me I need a remote control door lock receiver, wow their price!

They will probably tell you that you also need a new fob to go with that receiver. I would bet an new fob will fix the issue. This is a fairly common problem and I have never heard of it being a receiver problem. Get a fob for a 2000, no passive switch.

Your chances of being hit by a meteor are higher than it being the RFA.

But for the price they are going to charge him for the RFA and then the hourly rate to install it, they can afford to hand his FOB to the girl at the reception desk and have her clean the belly button lint out of the PASSIVE switch...... Problem solved and owners next boat payment in hand.
I told them to hold off on that. It is still in the shop for other things.
It is a little distance from where I live but I might just make an extra trip and try the cleaning of fob myself.
