My wife was inquiring why so many Corvette owners do not have those small blemishes in the front of their cars from road rocks, sand, etc. Several stated they had their cars sprayed with a film of some sort and it reflects anything hitting the paint. I personally have never heard of this, other than clear coating the paint, yet that doesn't stop paint chips from happening. There is guy near me who charges $2500 to do an entire car. Not sure what he charges to do the front clip. Anyone heard of this procedure and have it done?
No, but I bought mine with 3M nose & mirror "bras". Does it prevent chips, probably. Do I hate it still, yes.
Even the slightest bit of dust and the nose stands out like crazy. I continually struggle with the "do I leave it or remove it" question. I live in a very dry (northern tip of a desert; tumbleweed, snakes, black widows; all that stuff) city, lots of dust; and my Z is a DD, not a garage queen.
Regardless; no matter what you apply it'll never be 100% rock chip proof.

The plastic material that the front is made out of can flex some and that could reduce paint damage; I have a front air dam made out of fiberglass and it's full of stone chips.
