I have Borla Stingers on my '02 coupe and was about to install a Bassani crossover. The question came up as to whether this would mess up the warranty since you have to cut the cat pipe in order to install the crossover. The placement/cut of the cat pipe is after the cats and O2 sensors, but apparently a dealer could make the case that any future problems with the cats or O2 sensors wouldn't be covered by warranty. What do you think?
17 views and no replies! I sent an e-mail to Bassani on the crossover, and they said I should contact a dealer. So I called one and talked to a tech who's worked on lots of Vettes, and he said yes, cutting the pipe could cause a problem. If you have a problem later on with the cats, O2 sensors or are getting some error codes, a dealer could say it wasn't covered under warranty. The fix might be to put on the original pipe/cats, but since you've already cut yours up, you'd have to buy another. $$$$$$$$ So............an answer, sort of. :smash:
Read that site and you tell me if they can void your warranty? :jester
Seriosly, they cannot just void your warranty. They Have to prove that the aftermarket part/accessory caused the failure of the part in question that you are trying to repair under warranty!
I get so worked up about this issue! :mad :mad :mad
