Hey everyone I wanted to see if anyone has a clue why my batter dies after couple days of not using the car?
It's been about 6 months that I replaced it with a new one and if I don't turn on the car it completely dies
If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it
I went thru this issue late last winter and early into this year. I bought a battery tender to keep on it full time and even that stopped working. Finally, I replaced the battery with an Autozone Platinum AGM battery and havent had a single problem since then. The continental that was in there before SUCKED even tho it was less than 2 years old.
A GOOD battery might be a good place to start (no pun intended). After that, you can check for a current draw.
Thanks for the tips. My battery would die after just a couple of days. I placed a clampon ammeter on the battery cable going to the passenger compartment and started pulling fuses one at a time. When I pulled the passenger seat 20 amp fuse; the current dropped. The next step is to determine if it's the switch, module, or motor that is defective.
Something else you can do quick & easy is run by an Advance Auto parts or Oreillys and have them put their charging system machine on your car. It can run a check on all the grounds relating to the starter / battery / alternator and do a load test on the alternator/battery. Typically when we have a charging issue this is the first thing I do so I don't wind up chasing ghosts.
C5's are known to have current draw issues---The most common one is the driver's seat electric seat----It remains on even if the key is turned off---only a few days will kill the battery-----
Try to dis-connect all the pigtails under the driver's seat--I think there are 2 of them--1st set it where you want it---If that cures the dead battery ten that's your issue
My car had this same problem but rather than spending lots of $$ I simply set the seat and unplugged all the pigtails--No more dead batteries
I just picked up one these, you just probe across the fuse to identify the offending cct. One problem when chasing a draw is the car is sleeping, it takes a few minutes for all the computers to shut down.
