Bottom line, does driving from light to light in comp mode make you any quicker than being in none TC and AH mode or normal mode on a 00 A4?

Thanks for all the info. Eric

On any Corvette:
1) Traction Control activates only when excessive wheelspin is detected
2) Active Handling activates only when the limits of the car appear to challenged (car not going where it's supposed to be going)
therefore, if there is no wheelspin and handling limits are not challenged, neither Traction Control nor Active Handling will engage and there will be absolutely no performance difference between normal mode (Traction Control and Active Handling on) or Competitive Driving (Traction Control off and Active Handling on) or both turned off. Personally, I like to drive in Competitive Driving which keeps Traction Control off (car won't depower itself with wheelspin) and Active Handling on, in case I get start getting sideways when I'm playing around. Active Handling is a wonderful thing, IMHO.

You are the first person that really know their stuff about this matter. No one else has even mentioned the fact that there is a gen 1 and gen 2 active control system.
I did. I said that 2000 and previous competition modes won't let you do a good job of spinning the tires.

It all makes since to me now. Only problem is if what you are saying is true then there is no difference between normal mode and comp mode. The TC and AH are on during both. This must be why GM made the gen 2 because gen 1 and comp mode in 00 A4 is a waste.
There is a difference. The Gen1 competition mode isn't as restrictive on the TC as when you have TC and AH on.
