How difficult is it to install? How long does it take? Do you need any special equipment or specialized knowledge? Thanks.
You can see a brief look on the http://www.vararam.com website. How long will depend on what your skills are and how fast you like to work. Not having done one before, you will want to take each step carefully as with anything.:)
Also, if you have time, try the search on the C5tech section here on the Forum for both current and archived threads on the VaraRam. It will probably help you out as well.:)
Just installed one this weekend. I'm not a mechanical gomer, but I'm not a professional either. It took a buddy of mine and I 5 hours from the time I pulled the jack out to the time the tools were back in the box. Not as fast as I expected, but not an azz kicker either.
My friend and I installed one on my 2000 about a month ago. It took us a total of 6 hours to install the VaraRam. We could have gotten the job done in less time had my friend not remove the driver's side fog light, which is not necessary. I spent an hour and a half just trying to get the fog light back into place. Overall, it is not difficult to install, it just takes time and patience. The results are amazing!
I did mine in about 4-6 hours by myself, with another set of hands first timers should be able to do it in about 4 hrs + an additional hour looking for tools in my garage :) And to answer your question about difficulty, its not a "hard" thing to do, just time consuming, you get to find out just how many bolts are used for the radiator shroud etc....
I Installed one in a friends car. Aside from the lava like heat of my garage, it took about 4-5 hours. Not too bad but I'd rather be doing something else :)
