Im gonna be throwing this pump in sometime this weekend and Im just curious as to what everyone is seeing pressure wise cold/hot. Also do you like the pump? Have you had any problems with it?
I plan on going turbo in a little. So I figured this would be the pump i want for an oil cooler and a rear mount turbo.
I tried searching on this pump. But theres not much Info. Even when you type in 10296 alot of time the 10295 info will pop up.
Had a 10295 pump I my heads/cam set up, good pressure but bearing clearances were getting bigger so I recently put in the 10296.... Comes with high and standard pressure springs for the bypass but is high volume either way....lots of flow, idles at 50psi and runs up to 75+ psi....running the high pressure spring in it, Melling tech claims it flows 18% more oil than the 10295
I have 10 miles on it..... It's new, swap it to you for a new 10295?
What weight oil are you running? Im reading anywhere from 40psi to 60ish psi for warm Idle. The numbers are all over the place lol. Im going to be going with the high pressure spring.
I installed the 296, high pressure spring, shimmed it and cleaned up the ports a little. 30W, cold idle around 65, hot idle around 50. Cold with my foot in it will peg the mechanical gauge, hot with my foot in it around 70.
Oh, it also quieted down the valve train noise to almost nill. Cold piston slap is almost non-existent also.
Yeah people had me scared about getting the 10296. But I think itll be fine. Especially after I boos the car. Ill drill the lifter trays also to help with oil recirculation from the top end also the next time I have it apart.

Install a set of Morels and do away with those lifter trays altogether.

This sounded like a great idea untill I saw how much they were If one breaks Id be waaaaay more happy if it was an LS7 and not one of them lol. At $100 for a set of LS7 lifters I cant justify $600 just yet.

The chance of an LS7 lifter breaking is waaaaay more than a Morel, and due to the link bar they CAN'T rotate and take out your cam with it.
