If you have a 97-00 C5 then the best method is to use MAF ends. That way you also dont have to destroy your screen.
Or you could just unbolt the front end off the maf and carve the screen out with a utility knife.
On 01+ C5's the MAF is a one piece unit. You can use a screwdriver or utility knife to carve or pop it out. Then it will be identical to the 02 LS6 MAF.

If you really want to do this, remove the MAF from the car first. Then take the ends off and you will be able to pull the screen out. But remember, you will not be able to re-install it, so either be sure or have a back up. Good luck. - C.

A better question is WHY remove the MAF screen? No gain, possible pain=wasted time. I wouldn't do it unless you run at WOT for 90% of your driving; and if you do, I want to come play......... :smash: :)

3 schools of thought. like some have said why do it? i did and there was a definate increase in performance. if you want to keep the screen to replace if you dont like it, remove maf as a unit, use an exacto knife to gently slice around the outside of the screen and slide it out. if not get a pair of needlenose pliers and at the center of the screen gently push into it about1/4 inch close the pliers and pull it out. there is only a small amount of glue holding it in place at 3 spots. :cheers:
