I was curious what cars had which LS series engines in them and came across a wikipedia page that stated the following regarding the LS1.
LS6 intake manifolds were also used on all 2001+ LS1/6 engines. The casting number, located on the top rear edge of the block, is 12561168. Applications:
2001-2004 Corvette Z06
2004–2005 Cadillac CTS V-Series
2007 SSC Ultimate Aero TT
I have a 2004 A/T base coupe...I don't have an LS6 intake do I? Guess the bold face section of the text confused me. Applications don't state the base coupes, but they say "all 2001+ LS1/6 engines". I know I have the LS1 engine, but did GM use LS6 intakes on all the post 2001 cars?
Wow, I did not know that. Thank you! Good thing I asked, I always thought an upgrade path would be to purchase a used LS6 intake. That would have been a waste.
Guess if I ever decide it is time to upgrade the intake I need to start looking at a Fast 92.
