Default Holly/LS6 Intake Install Questions, Help

I want to try this myself. I've read the instructions but some things are still not clear. The coolant line extra I bought, does it replace the ones that run under the manifold? Then the two plugs seal the ones in the back? The instructons from the manufacturer are not clear. Also it calls for removing fuel feed. Is it pressurized ? How does it disconnect? Do you have any tips for the swap you can pass on to me? My mechanical skills are about a 5 on 1-10 scale Thanks
Ben

So are you installing a GM manifold (ls6?) or a holley? You need to buy a fuel line disconnect tool from any autoparts store (get an assortment of sizes) and you can release the fuel pressure by pressing in the schraeder valve on the end of the fuel rail (unscrew the cap, press in valve) and shooting the fuel into some paper towels (if the car has been off for a while nothing much will come out).

Everything else is cake for the GM manifold. the holley has a few more suprises.

First and foremost take your time in doing this install for plan on spending 1.5 hours at least on the swap...

Drain you coolant fluid first and disconnect the battery.

You do not need to removed the fuel rail, just depressurize it by pressing on the relief valve on the rail.

R&R all the components; TB, lines etc.

The coolant line is for the front one on the block and the 2 others are plugs for the back.

The one thing that you should be aware of is that I had a very small vacuum line that came up from the firewall and connected to a rubber fiting on the back of the manifold. This was a PITA to connect with getting my hands in there but it needs to be done. Torque down to proper settings and you should be good to go. Refill the coolant, connect the battery and check for leaks...

There is another member here that has published the exchange and here is his link... http://tradezone.com/vette/2001man.html

If you have any questions IM me and I would be happy to help...

It is a Holley aluminum one. I should have purchased the plastic G.M. LS6 one but thought I was going one better. Oh well, just an extra hundred dollars spent. :cry Thanks for the advice. Taking the family on vacation for a few days, will try it when I get back. Ben

My 14 year old son talked me into starting it. I was sceptical at trying this but he kept bugging me " c'mon dad, we can do this, worst thing that can happen is we call a tow truck!" So off we go, got the old one out and cleaning the area for the new one, God ,I hope it runs when I'm done.
