HUD control lights on instrument cluster

HUD control lights on instrument cluster
So I am replacing the DIC and HUD control lights on the instrument cluster with LEDs.
After changing I checked the LED lights and the right side DIC controls all light up YAY
HOWEVER...the HUD lights are not lighting up....
Is it possible I need to changing each LED for polarity issues or do I have to have the HUD cable plugged in on the top? (found that I do not need HUD cable)
The Lastest is that I twisted in the LEDs to the opposite position in the socket and 1 light worked
Could the HUD control contacts be bad????
Any help would be appreciated!
