I have an issue where the computer likes to randomly apply brakes when I'm driving around. Not pleasant. Discovered it was the Lateral Accelerometer last year. After it applied brakes randomly on the highway, I pulled over one day and disconnected the Steering Position Sensor. Problem solved until I decided if I wanted to bother with replacing the Accelerometer. It's been my understanding that this also killed Traction Control. The car has behaved as such since then, but it's been off the road for 10mo while I replaced the clutch and a number of other things.
Today, I punched it and the Traction Control Active DIC message came up and it killed the power to prevent spinning.
Traction control and active handling are not exactly the same beast. Active handling uses some features of traction control but if you think about all traction control can really to to stop rear wheels from spinning is:
Activate brakes
cut fuel
cut timing
I'm guessing yours killed fuel and timing. Sure you didn't hit the rev limited too?

Yes, absolutely sure. It's a boosted car with 638rwhp, so it didn't take much RPM. I've been running this way for a long time now, and never saw this message.
I've done this before and ran 1/2 mile events with no problems.
Just curious if anyone knows for sure what systems are affected by pulling the Steering Position Sensor.
