My 03 Z is having a starting issue. just started getting into the T/S .
Here's my problem.
The battery seems to have been drained trying to start the car (by a friend). When I got to it was dead and I used a portable buster to jump the battery, I got a lot of solenoid chatter and an occasional crank on the engine with no start.
I jumped the battery with another vehicle and the same occurred, solenoid chatter and occasional crank.
I removed the battery and placed it on charge but it doesn't appear to be a battery issue.
Has anyone had this issue and if so most likely culprit?
Thanks in advance.
[QUOTE=8VETTE7;1590211346]What is happening with the SECURITY light on the dash with the key in the on position and NOT trying to crank? ON solid??? OUT??? Flashes???
Pull and post all the codes including the H or C or HA that follow each 5 character code. List the codes under the sensor that they are shown under in the DIC. ie 10- PCM or 28 - TCS or 40 - BCM etc.
If you have never pulled codes before here is how:
OR
Thanks, I didn't take note of the security light nor pull the codes. This will be my next step
read this a couple days ago,, if ya need a starter---here is some info
**** Delco Remy sold at Auto Zone Auto Parts Part #989559 DL89702S
Their new starter would be a "Dura Last" part number DLG9702S. They put the letter "G" in the part number for "Gold", their more premium parts.
I can recommend a new Bosch and it has the extra long bolt as well (that comes with it) so both bolts are long. No more one long, one short crap.
Bosch SR8581N $103.79 on Rock Auto dot com.
From-LoneStarFRC
NOTE: Do NOT go by application! Order by part number. This is GM's newer design truck starter, but is a DIRECT plug and play for C5 Corvettes.
good luck

Thanks Mike. I was going to tell the OP about the specifics, etc but you beat me to the punch.
Btw, I just checked and RA has upped their price a bit. That new Bosch starter now sells for $118.99.
Amazon has it for $112.96, although the picture they show is wrong (as long as they ship the correct part number, no problem).

Thanks for the nice words Mike.
CF is a great place to learn and I try to help where I can, especially if it relates to systems that I have personally been involved with or worked on.
