Default Lowering a C5 with F45 Question

I am getting ready to lower my 2000 coupe this weekend that has the F45 suspension and have been doing lots of reading on the subject here and have possibly a dumb question..... Almost everyone says its no big deal to lower them on stock bolts but it may ride rougher because the height sensors see that it is sitting lower and stiffen the ride to compensate. My question is why not just shorten the rods between the chassis and ride height sensor accordingly so that the suspension sees it as being the correct height?? Wouldn't this allow you to lower the F45 without the consequences of being a rougher ride? If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them otherwise I think I may give it a try this weekend and report back how it goes as long as shortening the rods isn't too difficult. I'd hate to have to cut them down and have it not work the way I think it will.... Thanks guys

It rides rougher because it's bottoming out.

I dropped mine about an inch, as it looked like a 4x4 when it was brand new. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think I'm bottoming out.

Yes,, at 1" lower the car will bottom out much easier.

Just for fun say it doesn't bottom and the system just makes the shocks stiffer - you shouldn't try changing it because you need the shocks stiffer to reduce the travel to avoid bottoming out.
