Default 97 c5 fuel filter regulator

So I have a little problem here I've owned my c5 for about 4 weeks now and I've always noticed this janky set up and I never liked it because my fuel filter regulator sits right by my alternator. So the other day I smelt a little gas so I popped my hood and BOOM fuel leaking out the regulator.

So my question is, is there any other style I can use. I have basic bolt ons with ls2 rails and intake. So I NEED this regulator for my car to run.

I would like something a lot cleaner looking that I could mount in a good spot. Any advice would help!!
Thanks!

Although I have a 02 I did swap out my fuel filter with the regulator for a 97 style filter and added a regulator on the rail when I added a return line. O ported it from the valve at the end of the rail, manufactured a simple L bracket.

what in the holy hell did they do?... your filter should be at the back driver side frame rail near the tank NOT in the engine bay... and that is also a 99+ style filter with the regulator built into it and you should be using a 97-98 style filter and then install an adjustable regulator pretty much anywhere in the engine bay that you wish and use whatever -an fittings and hose you like to connect it all together... personally I use an aeromotive regulator, part # 13101... wow, I have never seen anyone do something like that before... I'm really curious, almost scared, to know what they did with the lines from the tank to the engine bay

you don't have to get that exact regulator, I like aeromotive stuff, but any good name brand adjustable regulator would be fine... another plus is they are already setup to boost reference if you decide to add a supercharger/turbo later on and build a fuel system... I would get rid of the 99+ style filter/regulator under the hood and install a 97-98 filter on the frame where it was from the factory... like I said I'm worried about what they did to the factory lines, you will need to see what's going on back there and then come up with a plan to fix it... the 97-98 cars have a regulator on the rails and since the previous owner switched to an ls2 intake/rails is the reason why they added the filter with a built in regulator but that is a pretty sh*tty way of doing it in my opinion... the proper way would have been to leave the filter on the frame and just add a regulator like I suggested or the guy above posted in his pic, much easier and cleaner solution

So i got the aeromotive reg installed and set to 56PSI had a very dependable guy do it. But now the car wont run with the MAF plugged in. I did install a new one prior getting the reg installed. Could this be because a vacuum leak somewhere? The car runs decent with the MAF unplugged.

I did have the tech check to see if the stock fuel filter was still there and it was.
