I have a problem, I just replaced the f1 gs emt and I bought a pair of f1 gs though they are the non run flats. my front tires are still the stock ones with good tread on. when i pulled away from the tire dealer I noticed that the rear end of my car was very loose. I thought maybe this scary sensation would go away though 600 miles later it is the same. I cannot even go around a simple turn without the anti traction system turning on. it feels as if the rear end is on ice. any ideas and does anyone know goodyears customer service phone# any help please.
I'll take an educated guess and say that the difference in sidewall stiffness between the run-flats and non run-flats is causing the sensation you're experiencing.
The front tires are not as "compliant" as the rears, which are "squirming" all over, so you feel the difference. It's kind of like something that I ran into when I was a teenager, many years ago.
I worked for a mom&pop grocery store, used to do the deliveries with their station wagon.(remember them??) Anyway, the car needed two new tires, so the owner of the store, not a car guy, goes and buys two new tires. The guy who sold him the newbies told him that the "belted" tires were better, so he says, "OK, put em' on."
The guy who mounted them on the car, also not a car guy, put the belted on the front, left the non belted on the back, and the car felt like it was all over the road. We then switched them, front to back, and although still not ideal, the car handled better. Unfortunately, you can't do that with the 'Vette.
So, I would say that your options are to either grit your teeth and live with it until the front tires wear out, or just replace the fronts anyway, and match them to the rears.
while you saved a bunch going to non runflats in the rear I wouldn't recommend mixing and matching tire types on a vette. you have 2 choices. toss teh fronts and get non runflats. or get runflats for the rears, and when all 4 wear out then put back your nonrunflats and get matching fronts then. cheapest route, get new fronts now. :seeya
