Default Which belt is this?

Just like title says, what belt is is? And where can I buy a new one. I'm getting the worse squeaking noise and need some help. I know for sure its this belt. Also how much should a mechanic charge to fix it or is it a pretty easy diy job? Thanks!

If you don't know what belt it is... I suggest you find a trustworthy, qualified tech to change your alternator belt for you. Just sayin.

True...I am trying to learn more about fixing the car on my own, that's the only reason I ask. I figured out it was the serpentine belt, so I may just go to autozone or local shop to buy the right one...if it's too risky to fix it myself then I definitely won't take any chances & take it to a mechanic.

Many times the belt squeal may be more than just a belt issue...belt tensioner, harmonic damper could be causing the squeal...
The consensus on the tech forum seems to be Gatorback belts will SOLVE many of the squealing issue! I'd like to see you have someone that knows what they are doing at LEAST look at it... you can probably do the belt change yourself with assistance from the Forum crew.

Thanks brother for the offer!! I ended up taking it to a mechanic that I trust and he took a look at it & switched it out. I wasnt able to get the gatorback and had to settle with some Dayco's this time around. The squeaking went away and hopefully it stays like that. He charged me 50 bucks for something that took like 15-20 minutes if that but at least I know it was done right and I really didnt want to wait too long with that annoying noise (Its my dd). Again thanks for the offer, really means me a lot and makes me love this forum even more!

Ouch! Hoped that fixed your problem, otherwise you may need to get a big-o-jar of Vaseline cause you'll be visiting your mechanic again soon.

I just had this issue, but my was the alternator. Once I swapped that out, I realized the tensor pulley had a 3 degree lisp in it, so I had to do that too. I find one problem leads to another. At least for me.

By the way, you have an A/C belt behind the serpentine belt. You might was consider at least inspecting, of not replace that as well.

There is pretty good instructions on CF. The A/C is a little harder to get to, and from what I read it can really take some effort to get it around the pulley.

I've had my C5 for 6 weeks, and CF members have already saved me $800 in parts and labor. My turn single level screwed up. With instructions, I was able to remove it, recondition it, and reinstall it. Saved me $200 for the new part, and $600 for dealer labor. I was very happy. Paid for my new tires.

So I'd encourage you to give it a try at least. If you get stuck, take photos and ask questions.

What year is your car? I have a set of AC/Serpentine Gatorbacks (Now Continental Elite) for sale. They definitely fit a 2001. The A/C should fit all years of C5's but I believe the serpentine only fits 2000/2001. Part numbers are: AC: 4040420 and Serpentine: 4060798

Edit: Nevermind. I see you got your belt replaced.

It's a 99...I still need to replace the AC belt so if its compatible, I would be glad to take it off your hands lol

Edit: So just checked, according to amazon reviews, the AC belt is compatible for the 99! Are you willing to sell just that or were you specifically looking to sell as a set?

I DIDN'T even know the C5 had a turn signal level...
I know we have turn signal fluid... and muffler bearings...
