It's odd that the key will not work in the door. Is it possible the door lock or ignition was replaced so you would need two different keys?

If you can't get in with the key it is tie to call a locksmith.

Dumb question...have you tried you key in the passenger door? That might at least get you into the car. Your car being a 98 should have a key hole on both sides of the car.

Please let us know the resolution of this, when you find it.

I can't help on this, but would just like to take this opportunity, to say thank you to all those who do, those who have the knowledge, and are right up front with helpful advice for those of us, with less mechanical knowledge or physical abilities on these issues.

It goes in the door and turns the lock cylinder to lock and unlock but for whatever reason quit working. its the same key for the ignition and door locks.

Yes, typically the lock works! However for reasons I cant figure out it quit working. After getting the door opened... The passenger side works again but the drivers side is out dead.

I'm thinking it may be the door lock control module? The stupid thing locks and unlocks both sides perfectly from the inside door lock buttons on the driver and passenger door.

If it is the module and you don't have time or the inclination to do the repair yourself, check this company:
