Ummmm, isn't the top speed of a stock vette 186? and for a convertible I'd think it'd be lower top speed than 186, more like 175..........

i didnt look at the article, but ya either have to gear it higher than stock and have HUGE power
OR
be going down a steep grade in 6th gear....
reason being you achieve top speed in 5th gear, as there isnt enough tq transfer in 6th gear....UNLESS you get some help from gravity :yesnod: ... that is where the steep grade comes in :D

Well, I read the article and the car has more appearance mods than performance mods it seems. The car is running an automatic with modified gears and only as 418 hp. It didn't specify if that was flywheel or RWHP but either way I have trouble believing that is enough to increase the top speed by over 20 mph. Here is the list of engine mods he has according to the article -

No friggen way! 205 would take closer to 550 HP. And there is no way that even a 45 degree hill could provide 100+HP to allow it to achieve 205.
Maybe he is using tires of a very small diameter and has the spedometer confused!

There is no science behind the claim (all too common in this world).
The only evidence is an alleged speeding ticket, which would be quite easy to spoof. If the ticket was real, the cop could have been using that crappy new POP mode detection talked about on the Valentine One website. Check out the errors rates as the distances increase:

Of course, this is only Valentine's take on this, so this info should also be taken with a grain of salt.

Take a REALLY close look at the ticket. It reads: "Alleged Speed". It doesn't matter if the officer knows him or not, he would have been required to take him to jail. Even if this isn't so, he would have been fined a lot more than $375. Maybe he had the speedo set to KMH!!!!

Just wanted to get some humble but accurate opinions on this one. I more likely think that this statement better describes that article...."From my experience with local import drivers, there is no way he could have achieved that kind of speed without a "fart can" exhaust tip, at least 3 sub-woofers, a 3 foot high spoiler, and plenty of stickers (preferably tech performance racing team or the like, any type R sticker will work too)."

:rolleyes: Even with the 2:73 gears he has, i dont believe 418hp would be near enough to get "202.3." Now, if someone can correct me, then im wrong:confused:. Im just saying it sure DOESN'T sound right:nono:! Hell, look at Austrian Vette on this forum. He has more mods than this guy with (i believe)shorter gearing and nitrous to achieve 211mph. just my .02

My quick calculations say it would take about 480HP at the crank to do 205. Not impossable, but highly unlikely. We are talking about massive amounts of mods here!
