Default 1999 ABS module

Anyone know how to repair it or know where my friend can find a replacement; the JL9 ABS module that goes in a 1999 is no longer made. It also runs the traction control and ride control.

If anyone is parting out a wrecked 1999 corvette, please indicate if the JL9 part is available for sale and how many miles are on it. Thanks!

Unless the cause of your problems is bad grounds (common C5 electrical problem cause), blown fuse or bad power wire to the EBCM, there are no repairs that can be made to the 97 - 2000 EBCM. If you find a used module, make certain it is the correct V code module if the car has active handling. There are 2 different EBCM's for the 98 1/2 - 2000 cars. One that is for RPO JL4 and a different one for NON JL4 cars. They are not interchangeable.

The EBCM controls anti lock brakes, Traction Control and Active handling. It does NOT have anything to do with ride control.
Thanks for your reply, however, it has been confirmed that the JL9 is correct for his VIN. The JL4 supposedly was not used until the 2000 model.

JL9 = Brake system, Power, Front & Rear Disc, Anti-lock, 4 Wheel

Perhaps the car does NOT have Active handling since it was an RPO.

Good luck with your search..
All my friend knows is what the dealer told him after looking up his VIN. His car has the active handling, but is getting the error messages. He would be almost as happy if someone could access the computer and turn off the error messages so he doesn't have to see them.

BTW, an engineer at Corvettes at Carlisle this past weekend, told him he was SOL. We were even at the assembly plant & NCM today seeking answers.

SOL = yes. A used parts are the only fix unless he wants to retrofit the car to the 2001+ system which is a completely different system so it's a fairly major undertaking.

From mid year 1998 (beginning Dec. 15 1997) through 2000 there were 2 different EBCM's for the C5. One is for those cars that have the Active Handling RPO (Has a large V on a sticker on the body of the EBCM) and a different one for those cars that do NOT have the Active Handling RPO.

If it were me and I was seeking a used replacement I would get the GM PN off the one installed and be certain that what is purchased has a matching PN.
I agree with you. Thank you for the information you provided.
