I purchased the LMC5 to prevent having the column lock issue on my 99' Corvette with manual 6 speed. The install went good up and until I got to the part where you extract the orange wire from the connector with the small allen wrench provided with the install kit. No matter what I did, I just couldn't get the wire to release from the connector. I tried for a good hour or two but no luck. Kind of discouraging since the vendors video made it look so easy. I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what. If you had this issue and over came it, please let me know! Much thanks!!

I checked for links discussing similar problems with getting the pins to release and found several others experiencing the same issue as you. Maybe the connector/pin is twisted or bent. Good luck.

get hold of the pin with some needle nose pliers and pull it out... it will bend the little tab on it, but your not putting it back in anyway.
I had the same problem, it's NOT coming out unless you just use brute force and PULL it out... it's not a big deal if you bend the pin fastner.
If it's NOT coming out like it shows on the video it's already messed up...
I could not get one of the terminals to release when I did the install. I had a friend with better eyesight to see what was wrong . The terminal "catch" that keeps it retained was twisted so just using the allen wrench would not release it. He easily used a jewelers screwdriver to remove it.
If you decide to jank it out here is the replacement number if you ever need it. I doubt you will need one with the LMC5 installed.
Delhi P/N 12146447. It is a female terminal. Lots of suppliers out there.
The little tab on the side of the terminal is the problem as you can see it is pretty small and fragile... I didn't mean to suggest you "yank" it out... just gently pull it out it will roll that little tab wrong side out... you could probably even fix it if you wish... it does take a little force to get it to come out, but should pull out fine...or like Sam's friend did, IF your patient enough, can see well enough, and have a fine enough screw driver you may get that tab to release... either way good luck with finishing your LMC5 install

I had the same issue. A slightly larger or smaller allen ( I'm not sure which) worked for me. I'm pretty sure it was the larger one. Good luck
I had an issue and called richard and he said needle nose and pull it out, not going to use it anyway, although now that i know how it works i think a bigger allen may do it.
LOL... it's funny this damn little piece can be SO frustrating...
I'm a fairly descent wrench... I fiddled with that thing for more than an hour and tried BIGGER, SMALLER, POINTED, FLAT... and COULD not get the stupid thing to release...Like the OP said, it looks so simple on the video and the other ones nearly fell out...worked just like the were designed to.
I hate when something is SUPPOSED to work and it doesn't! So, I called Richard as well and we laughed about this trivial freaking little pin retainer thingy, whatever it's called, and HE suggested to just pull it out...
I thought I was losing my mind... how can something SO simple be SO hard... well, come to find out, it isn't.
I suppose I could cut the wire and attach it to the LMC5 that way leaving the stubborn tab attached as it is. Brute forcing the thing out gives me pause, as I fear the wire could break leaving the tab jammed inside the connector hole preventing it from reattaching to the BCM.
Problem solved. I ended up leaving the connector tab for the orange wire in place and spliced into it from the LMC5 orange wire. The purple and green tabs came right out, just like on the video so it made me feel better that it wasn't something I was doing wrong. Got everything installed and tested it out, ok! Thanks to all who contributed, much appreciated.
