I am still babying them right now. I finished my 2nd heat cycle. Although I am breaking them in I still was reluctantly digging a little more into the throttle each time...
Now I have to point out that at first I thought "Gee..The gears feel nice but not a huge difference..." Very noticeable but not huge...
There was a few times when I thought my god...did I feel an animal under the hood?
Well....I found out why..
This morning I decided to run an Autotap ( I took off the timing tricker and went back to the IAT)
And all the Time I thought I was digging into the gas more than I should.. I never in 20 miles crossed the 49% Throttle Position!!!!!
And that was only a few times..Mostly I was at 20-30%!!!
OH MY GAWD what is going to happen when I hit WOT?
I better bring some "Depends" along with me for that trip!
Sweet! Keep us informed. I would like to know if you experince any gear noise.
Good Point.. I modified my post...they are quiet as stock!!!
As I mentioned before. If you drive like an old lady going to church. You'd never really know they are there. Except the launch is eeeeeaaaaaasy.
It's when you step on it that they really come to life...
Re: Another Preliminary 4.10 gear report (chuckster)
Yes doing 80 in an A4 with 3.42's is 2475 and with 3.73's is 2700. That is the only reason I do not have 3.73's.
That really is the beauty of the 6 speed and nice gears. You can really jump in 1 through 4 gears and still cruise in 6th. And who said 6th was a waste.

Well, I'll tell you what happens when I hammer mine in 2nd from a 25 MPH roll....
It busts dangerously sideways all over the road. I have to feather the throttle to keep it in a straight line. I too had the same impressions during break-in however when you can finally bust her a z z it's the biggest SOTP yet! (next to nitrous of course :D )
Do not know if there would be a difference in ratio's, but I ran a Cobra Mustang Convert that had 4'10's, I believe. He jumped me about 1 1/2 carlengts at Bradenton, (this was when I had my 2002 A4 EB Coupew/3.15's). I caught him and passed him for the win............
Re: Another Preliminary 4.10 gear report (chuckster)
I would think the six speed would make 4.10 gears no problem. On my 72 LT-1 I had 3.73 gears and it was brutal cruising at 80. It's so long ago I can't remember for sure but I think it was turning somewhere in the 3000 to 3500 RPH range on the Interstate. The kicker was I had no A/C in that car. My wife and I drove from Minneapolis to Peoria, IL with the back window out and the side windows down in July. The concussion coming in the back window was rough. The RPMs I'm seeing on the earlier posts with a 6 speed and 4.10s look like no big deal. They look good to me!
