Hey guys my names Chris, i just picked up a Z06 Monday and did some tinkering around after i bought it. I found that my air pump in the front driver side bumper was not connected to a bracket and was just sitting there loosely. I have an aftermarket intake and headers, but the pump was still retained with the headers. Any specific reason why this thing should be just sitting in there?
Id like to add one of the hoses is open and has no vacuum or air coming out. Very confused. Car was just tuned and made 400 whp so its running well still.
All that does is help warm the cats up on start-up. Was probably tuned out when the car was dyno tuned. Easiest way to check is unplug it and run the car a bit and make sure you don't get a check engine light. If a hose is missing it almost certainly is tuned out. In that case feel free to remove it.
Yeah its not even plugged into my intake, but the tubes from the headers are intact. Its like the pump got plugged and they just left it there or something.

If its the AIR pump it wouldn't be hooked up to your intake, just each exhaust manifold. If it is hooked up to the headers it may still be active. Do you have any pictures?
Too hard to get pictures of the modified hose, but basically the inlet hose is connected, and the outlet hose is open. But its not leaking vacuum, or throwing a code.
If I understand right the small vacuum hose end is hooked up but the large outlet is open? If so all that'll happen is the pump will blow air out into the atmosphere for a couple minutes when the engine first starts.
So long as the connection on each header is capped you're fine.
Just imagine how much better your car will handle and how much quicker it would be if you remove the pump though!

Yeah ima take it off soon, i pulled the fuse and no cels so i guess its tuned out. Block off plates it is
If you are not getting any codes then the previous owner permanently deleted all the AIR codes in your tune---
Most LT headers do not come with air tube connections---So the owners simply unplug the air pump turn it off in the tune and delete the codes
If your LT's came with the air tubes and they are hooked up--Your airpumps can still be nor working but I would still install the block of plates to no exhaust is directed to anywhere other than out the exhaust pipes---You may already have the block off and don't know it---as they look as thin as a gasket---Here in Calif we leave the air pump and tubes installed--delete the codes--unplug the pump and install the block offs under the tube gaskets---So visually it all looks like its operational as the block offs look simply like thick gaskets--
