Just replaced all four on my '02 C5 with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2's. These are non run flat tires sourced from Discount Tire at the best price you'll find. They are recommended by many C5 basic type drivers who post on this Blog.
Good luck . I admire your diligence !

Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole position (Ran these on a C6 Z06 and loved them)

Hankook ventus V12 Evo 2 (Ran them on the front of a C5 Z06, a bit noisier than the S-04, Great Tire.)

Continental ExtremeContact DW (No Experience, I've heard it's an excellent choice.)

Michelin Pilot super sports (Had these all around on a c6 z06, good tire, just not worth the price at all. Replaced with S-04's and never looked back.)

I would recommend against the Michelin Pilot Super Sports not worth the extra coin at all.

I'm a HUGE fan of the pole position tire, you will not be disappointed in price or performance.

They look like good tires but there are no stock sizes for use on any C5. There are also no sizes available to go a little wider and taller. I guess you're fitting a little under-sized tires? I think you'd have to drop the diameter by almost 1" and the width by a size or 2 to fit a set with the proper stagger on a coupe.

The Hankooks are a decent budget tire if you're looking for something cheap.

With the Continentals it's possible to bump up to 255/45/17 & 285/40/18 tires and be close to the stock sizes. A little more width but not enough difference in the diameter to affect anything.

You might as well add Bridgestone RE-11's to the mix. I'm running them right now and they've been a really good tire.

I forgot the size difference between C5 and C5 z06 I haven't looked at stock sizes in a while.

The RE-11 is a great tire, but I don't think he will ever need a 200 treadwear tire, those are pretty sticky for what he says he uses his car for.

He could run a 255/40-17 front and a 285/35-18 rear with S-04's

Hey guy's, I may be somewhat silent in this discussion, its because I'm the guy getting educated. I truly appreciate the dialogue and experiences being exchanged. Yes, my use is truly casual, 29K miles in 15 years, true garage queen. Regardless, i'd not turn away from a choice that makes sense. Would like less harshness and quieter than current OEM Run Flats. Also like decent wear performance. My car is equipped with Z51 package, although extent of its use limited to Off Ramp thrill, thats about it. Yes, the Z51 package is contributor to some of the harshness, I rather think of it as firmness, which I like.

I read and pay attention to every word you guys impart, helpful and informative. Comfort is knowing its from guys with corvette experience, both in its strengths and weaknesses. I'm listening guys!!!!! Oh yes, i'd like to keep stock sizes on the car if all possible. Its just me, not any technical reason.

Honestly I would go with the Hankooks if I were you. Very good tire for a very good price, and they come in your exact factory specs. Almost anything you pick is going to be quieter, smoother, and way better than your factory run flat junk.

You can save a little money and enjoy a good upgrade over your factory tires.

Sure, the RE-11 is a really sticky tire but they're really good performers and would last 7 or 8 years with such little driving and by then any tire you put on should be replaced anyways.

I'm not arguing that the RE-11 isn't a great tire. But in his case, do you really think he is going to get his extra $225 dollars worth out of the RE-11. I doubt most would be able to tell the difference, and unless you are pushing more power or are auto-crossing, there isn't much to warrant a stickier tire compound such as the RE-11.

In his case IMO, I would save the $225 and buy the hankooks, and feel comfortable that I would have never known the difference.

But then again, I spend more on 2 rear tires than he does on all 4, so I should probably stay out of this

I've read some mixed comments about the feel of Hankook tires during highway driving. Enough for me to spend a few hundred more on tires I knew would be good vs experimenting to save a few bucks and not being happy. But then, I was coming from PS2's on the car so I didn't want to feel I'd really downgraded myself.

I just got the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. They are a lot quieter and smoother ride.

Before I had the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S run flats. I could feel every bump or ridge in the road. As I drove through my neighborhood, I would cross a bricked area. I could feel and hear every brick. With these new tires, I don't even notice the brick pavement any more.

For a daily driver, the Continental tires are perfect.

Thanks very much for sharing your experience and advice. I looked at Tire Rack site, they show tow Continental Extreme Contact choices:
1. DWS
2. DWS 06
Which did you buy? Roughly how many miles have you done with them thus far? Certainly a compelling price choice. Some comments have been made in this post buy guys that "know their stuff" about Continental being among the good choices. Appreciate your comments...

I have a 2004 C5 base, so the DWS 06 do not come up as an option.

I have the DWS 275/40ZR-18 (on the back) and 245/45ZR-17 (on the front). Just a couple of hundred miles on them so far.

Wish I had done this years ago. I've put up with that harsh ride way too long. If you are going to the track or go crazy, you will want a firmer tire. If so, you could have two sets of tires and switch them out.

No, Track far from it. Strictly pleasure use. Occasional off ramp cornering thrill, but otherwise general local driving. Never use it in rain, only nice days. Its a 2001 Coupe, 6Sp with Z51 package. i'm original owner, 29K very lighly used miles. Ever year I go thru the same mental torture...should I buy tires, keep the car, or sell it???? I'm senior guy, my enjoyment is keeping it pristine, use it occasionally, cover it with trickle charger in heated garage. Wax it till shine is blinding(Torch Red). Sorry for this meander, but its true, do I sell or keep. I'll likely buy new tires regardless, its just how am. Really appreciate the dialogue you fellows have offered...as I said earlier, very respected Corvette group of people.
