Pesky right wheels sensor......keeps shutting down my TC/AH/ABS. So tonight I decided to take a look. A very easy fix and a really easy lesson to grasp. I jacked up the car and BEFORE pulling off the wheels took a look around from underneath. Here is what I saw:
The sensor clip is too loose and will not stay attached.....a simple fix but I didn't know. Now look at next picture.......
When I lifted the sensor to clip back into place I found the cause of C1226.......that part just sat on top of the wheel as it spun until the insulation was worn off and the bare wire made contact with the wheel. BAM! Code....lights.....no TC/AH/ABS. Fix the clip, repair the insulation with electrical tape and voila! Done. Less than 5 minutes.
I have said it before and it bears saying again....often it really is a simple fix, and not a complex issue.
You bet.....this weekend it appears that I will be chasing down a power steering leak and replacing my batwing lower pan that was perforated by road debris during the summer. I patched it with JB Weld while I tracked down another pan and believe it or not it has held the entire time!
