Trans Fluid Leak - Need Help
I have a trans fluid leak which is dripping right down on the top of my starter. This seems strange to me.
Is there a transmission line and/or fitting somewhere above where the starter is? (clearly the line must run through that area but I guess I don't know if there is a fitting that may be in there). A diagram would be nice.
Is this a common problem (cause I have had all of the common problems)?
Then I'm thinking I will fix this with braided line cause my radiator's configuration is a bit off the factor spec position wise thanks to my mods. Braided line seems the best way to go, allowing me to route the lines a little nicer than where the hard lines are now. Any kits for this? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
that is the junction where the brass fittings are I was talking about
I do not know of any kits. Good luck with your repair.
What I thought was trans fluid looks to have been more like partially distilled coolant. It was pretty thick when on the garage floor but it seems that because it was dripping off of the hot pre-cats it made the coolant seem thicker (if that makes sense).
I'm still kinda floored by this and I still may be wrong, but when seeing the liquid was all over the top of the starter and because the trans lines are below that it had me looking close at the head for a leak. Sure it enough it would seem the leak is actually from the rear of the head on the passenger side. So, looks like at least a head gasket job in my near future.
