My mistress and I are rapidy approaching the 30,000 mile mark (actually, she's approaching the 30,000 mile mark, I passed that mark decades ago  ). Does anyone in these parts have any idea how long the F45 shocks last? How do I tell if they need replacement--leaks, ride, control???

As always, thank you in advance!
You'll probably start gettin dem funny little codes :) I don't really know, but I'm in the same boat.
I have 73K on mine, no leaks or codes. Swapping springs and shocks (if springs don't fix bottoming) soon, as it will bottom too often (lowered). The shocks still work, but I think they have had to degrade some. The springs are probably sagged out. I guess best way is to ride in a newer one, as changes like this happen so gradually, it's hard to notice. Rode in an 02 Z06 and it was definitely better over speed bumps.
35K and in touring mode I get a ping sound from both of the front shocks or springs going over a bump. In Sport or Perf mode it goes away. I drive in Sport cause the ping is annoying. Ne1 else have this problem?
No, I don't have leaks or codes related to the suspension.
However, I think my butt is still too low. The previous owner had lowered the car, and I paid to have it "unlowered". But, it still sits lower at the rear than any other C5 I park next to.
I've decided to leave it in SPORT, unless I get wild and crazy and go to PERF. The TOUR setting is one I only use on the WONDERFUL stretch of I-65 in KY on the way the NCM.
89,000 miles and the shocks are useless in touring mode. Getting worse in Performance. I think it is a combination of old springs and old shocks. I will be contacting the Bilstein Service Center about rebuilt shocks as new one are big $$$$$$.
Do a search, Someone tried Bilstein and was told that they didn't make the shocks on 97 up C5's. They said they were made by ??? and they can't do anything with them.
I don't think anyone found out were to get them rebuilt at yet.
Oh well. I was going to replace the springs with Z51 units as I already have the Z51 bars. Plus I need to probably replace all the bushings as well. I will probably go urethane as the car does see road course duty a few times a year.
1. To test the shock, push down on the corner of the car and observe the rebound characteristics. A corner with a bad shock will bounce more than a corner with a good shock.
2. The F45 shocks are made by Delco. The GM Parts Direct part number is 22064825. Goes for about $290 from them, or $600 (!!!!) from a dealer.
