I had a loom of wires contact the serpentine belt and it rubbed the outer coating off of some of the wires. I am not sure how long ago this occurred since I found them while doing some other things...The wires appeared intact so I coated them with liquid tape. But, I have been receiving codes:
SDM U1040 H
B0432 HC
Shocks inoperative.
If I reset this shock message and U1040H it goes away and does not return except on initial "key on" after the sweep.
The shocks message has been intermittent and I have never received the reduced engine power warning as of yet.
The 3 wires damaged appear to the Purple, Grey and Black as shown. Can anyone tell me which wires the system affected? and recommended repair technique to the wires?
I'll look through my shop manual later to see if I can identify the wire specifics.
As for repairing the wires I would use "liquid tape". Google it. Carried by most hardware stores and Home Cheapo for certain. Paint it on each damaged wire and let it dry. I would use two coats and then rewrap the bundle with black electrical tape.
