Just as I'm heading to Vettes at Carlisle the *&%$#@ steering column
lock won't release. I tried the yank L&R on the wheel fix to no effect.
Is there a fuse or circuit breaker in the circuit I could check. I will have a
GREAT deal of difficulty getting the car out of the garage with the wheels
locked. :mad
+2 days...
Thanks for the tips n tricks to release the column... but none worked.
Again, does anyone know of a fuse or circuit breaker in the locking/release circuit?
Otherwise it's a day off work and hassle with a tow truck.

Here's the "factory" fix... From Bryner Chevy, Jenkintown, Pa.
LOCK 26050960 $188.38
HARNESS 88952427 $125.44
2.5 hrs labor $212.50
Total = $526.32 (+ towing +lost wages + agravation etc. etc.)
Since I'm a member of the CCDV there was a "discount" of $59.93 on the above parts, (whoopee!)
I have written to Chevy and I also vented to the service advisors about this problem. 5 years and counting
without a recall. I've also had problems with the fuel guage and belt tensioner which required road service.
And this is their FLAGSHIP model ? Can't wait to look at the Nissan 350z when it comes out!
This happened to me the a couple of days ago and I beat the crap out of the wheel and it unlocked.Try hitting it from the side and from the front with the base of your hand with the key in the run(engine off) position.....also try wiggling the key at the same time....good luck.
Disconnect the negitive side of the battery for around 5 minutes it will reset
then complain to chevy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they know about this problem and refuse to fix most cars having this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before you yank back and forth on the steering wheel, make sure that the key is OUT OF THE IGNITION. Then yank back and forth on the wheel. Put the key back in the ignition and turn it on (don't start it). You should hear the column unlock. Then start it and drive it. This method has unlocked mine three times. (Now it's fixed, finally). This is what the C5 tech at my dealership instructed me to do and it works.
But do you know what exactly did Chevy fix column lock problem ???
Did they just hit real hard on the steering to get it unlocked and give the car back to you ???
