Default New Magnaflow, too quiet

Installed a set of Magnaflow axle back today and it barely louder than
stock, but sounds good. Will a set of LT headers and an x pipe make it
louder?

Thanks

Headers = louder
X-pipe generally quieter but more exotic

Magnaflow does make one of the more quite systems, but I do enjoy the exhaust note. If it's not loud enough for you, headers and an x pipe will diffenatly make it louder, espically if you go catless. If you do a cam swap to something more aggressive it may also make it louder as well

I started out with the stock Ti's on my Z. Way too quiet. Then installed GHL bullets and that sounded better...still too quiet. Installed headers, hi flow cats and x-pipe (with the GHL's). Sounded very quiet at cruise and had an "exotic" wail at WOT. I felt it was still too quiet for me. So... I picked up a set of Borla ATAK's and put them on the other night. Louder at idle and pretty loud at WOT. Funny thing is they seem too quiet to me. I've got a really thick truck partition and I'll have to check to see if the PO installed dynamat or something. I think a lot of times we have to stand outside our cars and let someone else do a driveby. People are saying my vette sounds unreal.

Or...maybe I'm going deaf

and thank goodness. My last 'loud' vette was a 72 with side pipes and I am still recovering from that experience 23 years later. At 72 and owning a 04 vert, I want to hear the wind and the radio, not the exhaust. That is one reason I bought the vert with Magnaflow. Nice and quiet but roars when you step on it.

Yep, Magnaflows are definitely too quiet on the C5 IMHO. Barely louder than stock. I had a set that I sold and changed for some Corsa Extremes. Night and day difference.

My Magnaflows were very quiet right after installation, and I was disappointed. Now, a year (about 10k miles) later, they have "broken in" and are perfect. Stick with 'em for a while, they get better.

The Magnaflow catback is pretty quiet, even with headers, but it does have about the deepest tone I've ever heard on a C5. (stock c.i.) Small resonance at the usual place, but not as bad as Stingers in that regard.

I had no mufflers for a while. You start to feel like your gonna puke after some highway driving.

I had straight Borla's, and went back to stock. Making less noise, I could run the motor up to the rev limiter, in first gear next to a cop. My car feels so much faster being able to get on it hard, whenever I can, and not draw attention. Loud isn't always faster.

I have Magnaflows since they first came out. Maybe a little too quiet but I drive alot and do some traveling too. After a while you don't mind quiet. Anyway, I installed LG headers and x-pipe. Completely changed the sound. Much meaner at idle, not loud but more muscle car rumble idle. Still mild at cruise, actually possibly better than before at highway speed, good for music listening. At acceleration, it totally changes. Much louder and exotic car scream. People will notice. Perfect for all driving modes. With all the cars at Carlisle I noticed people checking out my exhaust many times. As a matter of fact, Magnafow had my car in their vendor booth as a C5 demo car. I'm happy.

Our exhausts usually preserve a stock-like idle volume, but really open up once you get on the throttle. If you are looking for a little more presence out of the exhaust after installing the catback, you can always begin upgrading the components north of that. Headers will without a doubt increase the overall volume of the system.
