On two occassions during the first start-up of the day, I have inserted my key and instead of the memory engaging (wheel telescoping and seat), I hear a loud click. The car cranks normally but I get "Charge System Failure" on the DIC. The voltagae reads normal (13.6) and everything appears to be fine. I pulled the following codes:

I know they are all historical and no current conditions. Any idea if this is anything to worry about?
Thanks.

Since all your codes are History codes if it were me I would forget about them. The "charging system fault" message seems to be quite popular with the C5s. Sometimes it is corrected by tightening various electrical connections, and then other times we just live with the occasional message.

See if your DIC stays where you set it or defaults back to the odometer. Same thing if you have an HUD. If they default to factory settings your voltage is dropping too low on starting. This usually indicates a battery that hasn't been charged long enough (while driving) to recover from a deep discharge or a battery that is going bad. If the above is what is happening try charging your battery overnight with a battery charger. If that doesn't fix it suspect your battery next.
Normally, with a car as new as yours, I wouldn't suspect the battery. But I have had new batteries that were defective right off the shelf. It happens. I'm not clear about the "loud click" noise that you describe. Does it "click" when you turn the key and not crank or does it "click" when you insert the key in the ignition before you crank it, or what? Could you be a little more specific about the procedure that produces the "click?"
The click occurs when I insert the key. That is when the memory usually adjusts the telescoping steering wheel, seats, mirrors etc. I don't turn the key at all. When this problem happens, the memory sequence does not happen and I hear the loud click instead. It sound almost like the click you would hear when trying to start a car with a dead battery where the engine does not turn over at all but I am not turning the key to try and start the car. The memory sequence should definitely occur because I used the unlock and the door is closed.
When I do turn the key to start the car, it starts normally with no hesitation like a weak battery and the voltage reads normal. I then hit the memory 1 key to make the memory sequence run and that works fine also.
Like I said, it has only done this twice and probably a month in between the two occurrances.
I had the same problem with my 1999 C5 coupe (purchased new) after I purchased it. The dealer "technician" was unable to determine what was causing the messages and telephoned Chevrolet Technical Assistance. They instructed the technician to check several ground locations on and near the starter, under the battery. He found several nuts on ground studs that were loose. He cleaned the locations and tightened the nuts. That eliminated the "charge system fault" messages on the DIC when starting the car.
The technican said that Technical Assistance immediately knew what the problem was and how to repair it. He felt that it must be a common problem.
