'01 vert basic displays Traction Control and ABS problem ????
On my ride home from work I was at a stop light when all of a sudden the Traction Control and ABS fault lights lit-up on the dash. How can I clear the warning lights everything seems to be working fine??!!
T/C and ABS messages or codes are most often related to a fouled or broken wheel speed sensor---The pigtails get dirty and won't read--the wires can get frayed or broken--
I would check all 4 of them---One at each wheel--around the brake rotors
The data from the wheel speed sensors is used both by the ABS system and the Traction control system-----The ABS uses the sensors to detect if the wheels are skidding on a hard stop---and the T/C uses the sensors to detect if the wheels are spinning on a hard launch----
Also often times on older cars simply driving on a rough road or going over railroad tracks will trigger the codes as the pigtails momentarily become dis connected
Try clearing all the codes 1st---How to on the forum----If they re-appear then is wasn't a one time thing and next I would check all the sensors
If you pull the codes you will know if you have a speed sensor problem or if it is something else causing the problem. The code will even indicate which wheel is suspect.
