So I got the P0455 code a few weeks ago, did some research found out it was the EVAP system code. Tightened the gas cap, turned the code off, It went away for a week or so. Then it came back, I bought a new gas cap now, same exact thing happened code returned even with a new gas cap.
I don't see any fuel leaks or anything underneath the car. Does anyone know a way to trouble shoot the system to see what is wrong with it and why I keep getting the code. I reset it once again but it has not come back yet.
Yes, is there any way to test it and figure out what is causing it without a Evaporative Emissions System Tester. After I reset the light it came back on both times ~125+ miles and around half a tank of gas.
Am I just really bad at tightening my gas cap hahah.....I hope that's the case.....
I saw on another site someone with a 2001 Corvette experienced a rattle around 1400-2000rpm and my car does this also. Someone told them the EVAP Solenoid plunger could rattle around and make this noise. Also my gas mileage on the highway has decreased. I wouldn't think that these two were related. I thought it might be exhaust noise. Does this make any sense? Could it be the EVAP Solenoid that's bad and making the rattle as well as the CEL?
There is a slight gas smell at times, but I always just thought it was a bad gas cap.
