I just changed my oil this weekend for the first time and I've noticed that my pressure is a bit screwy now. I used Mobil1 5W30 SuperSyn (the new stuff) and a Mobil 1 filter.
With the old oil (done at the dealership by the previous owner- I assumem 10W30 since the car was in Indiana), my pressure used to get up to about 44psi on cold startup, then run consistently at 36psi at warm idle and around 40psi under load. With the new oil, cold start pressures are around 49psi, and warm idle is at 32psi with load about the same at ~40psi.
Is this normal? Just a function of the thinner oil? Are those pressures within tolerances?

Thanks in advance!
I just changed my oil yesterday to Super Syn and noticed the cold pressure was a bit higher. You certainly are in the "safe" range! I wouldn't worry about it.
Sounds pretty typical with a change like yours. Both the oil and the filter will affect the pressure. I am running 0W30 Amsoil 2000 (and Amsoil filter) and my pressure is a pound or two lower than with the Mobil 1 stuff. Runs gooooooood! :jester
