I'm keeping my eyes on ebay for a deal. The memory buttons don't bother me if they don't work either. But I would prefer the correct switch with no memory button.
If the switch does not work, you could try to fix it yourself. I have fixed switches before by opening them and cleaning the contacts and lubicating them, at least is worth trying.

thanks for the suggestion but mine is shot, half the rubber is gone, the window down white buttons are loose and exposed. I tried WD to no avail. It's time for a new switch.
The memory switch will work just fine. The price is directly related to the demand of these switches. I recently purchased one to replace the broken switch panel on my 2000 Hardtop and it works just fine. I had also read on line that they were compatible and decided to give it a try.
I have a 2000 hardtop that obviously came without the memory function. However the previous owner installed a set of Sport Seats in the car which seemed to work just fine. Previously, if I opened the car with the Key Fob, my passenger side mirror would immediately go full up and full right. After installing the new switch however I now have seat, mirror and radio memory functions. I suspect that the memory function is resident in the seat module attached to the underside of the drivers side Sport Seat. That was the only change that the PO made to the interior of the car.
Cash, my original switch is still fully functional, it is just the "white" plastic backing that is broken and will not lock into the door panel securely. If you would like to see if you can fix yours with the help of mine, I'd be happy to sent it to you, just send me a PM.
Thanks for the offer Gusto, I'm going to get a replacement, but good to know the memory switch would work. You can see the deteriorated condition of my orig switch.I tried to superglue the thing back together but that didn't work and even just pushing the white buttons quit working too..
I'm hoping removing the old switch and installing the new unit is not too difficult.

30 seconds or less... Stick a thin bladed screwdriver into the edge (lower left in picture) between the switch and the door panel and pry the switch up. The upper right of the switch locks into the edge of the hole in the door panel, the lower left snaps in place with a metal clip attached to the back of it. Remove the plug from the old switch, insert it into the new switch and reinstall the switch into the door.
If you're not sure, wait until you get the new switch. Once you have the new switch in your hand it will be very obvious how it attaches to the door panel. No reason to remove the door panel at all just to replace the switch.
You're doing the drivers side, so follow Gusto's directions to pry from bottom/rear of switch. Do not pry from top/front, as in dadaroo's video, because passenger switch is opposite.

The switch panel on the pax side is removed/installed the exact OPPOSITE of the driver's side.
This is great info, finally catching a break where I can actually fix something myself. I haven't scored the switch yet. Just a matter of scrapin' some spare coin together. Maybe I'll get one for Christmas. Anyway a big thanks to all you guys for the great input.
I guess If I went cheap I could get a memory unit, seems like the consensus is that it would operate my windows just fine.
