Default wheels without tpms sensors

I'm thinking of buying a set of aftermarket wheels (19"/20") for my 98 'vert. What happens if you skip the tpms sensors? Can you disengange/reset the system like on a Mercedes?

I have a set of chrome z06 (standard simension) wheels which I'm keeping, but can I transfer the sensors from these to the new wheels or are they wheel specific?

Thanks for tips;

You can just buy a set of four sensors for $152.00 here. JMHO

Hey Zig, have you used these and if so, how did they perform?
Thanks

Like 8vette7 stated the '98 can not turn off the system.

However, I have several sets of wheels and some don't have sensors. What happens is that each time you start up the car you will receive a DIC message about the tire system. You can press the reset button to clear it and it will not come back until the next time you start the car. It is not too hard to deal with although I prefer to have the sensors.

These particular ones no, I found some titans and put those in and haven't had any problems. But these should do the job.

It can merely be cleared by using the Reset button each time it is displayed in the DIC.
As long as your current sensors work just fine and assuming they are not the original ones, then just have them transferred to the new wheels. No need to spend extra money on sensors. If they are the original ones, you might want to seriously consider getting new ones just to avoid problems later down the road.
