Hello guys I just put a rebuilt transmission on my 01 vette and I cranked it put it n gear and it will not do anything on any gear. I changed gear manually from under the car and it still won't do nothing. Could it be something electrical?I check fuses and the plugs that go to the tranny and everything looks ok. Its an automatic.
It has fluid, took the plastic peace from under the torque converter and it seems like its working it just spinning freely while on park.it was only three bolts for the torque converter and tight them good it sat OK. I will double check on torque converter.
Is there a specific way the torque conveter should be sat? this was my first time changing a transmission on any of my vehicles, I have changed the flex plate and bell housing and it ran OK for a week before trans went out.I did not remove the torque tube left that on the car.thanks

You lost me here. Your saying the new trans was working for a week then it quit? If thats the case you need to find someone with a tech2 to see whats going on

Are you absolutely sure there's enough fluid in it? When a reman trans usually comes in it's empty. You have to fill it up and get the fluid cycling and into the converter for things to start happening, and getting it up to operating temp to then check to make sure it's full of fluid. On jackstands cycle it through the gears slowly to get the fluid circulating, keep adding until it's full. That's my bet as to what the issue is.
Reason I point this out is you said this is the first transmission you've replaced.
OK, I just checked the car and my transmission fluid not getting hot t all it staying at 50° while my engine at139°.I checked fluid before I cranked it and it started spilling so I figure I run the engine get transmission fluid cycleing and check but its cold.

Trans is going to take longer than the engine to heat up. You'll have to let it sit there idling for quite a while, well after the engine gets to temp at 180° to 200°.
If you didn't at least partially fill the torque converter before installing, you better just go get another 6-7 quarts of fluid now and start adding. Slightly overfill the trans and let the fluid start working through.
Ok,I took the tranny out put my old torque converter on it added fluid to it left the car idleing to 230° and still nothing. I did notice that when I put car on reverse the rear lights don't come on. Trans fluid did pick up to 86° degrees but thats like 15 mins of car just sitting there running.I loosed up the transmission fill nut and spilled out so I put it back on what else should I try?

Ok I try everything I could, replaced my converter with the old one filled it up with fluids, sat converter flushed on transmission, left car running for over an hour trans temp reached 116° check the fill plug fluid came out, changed gears manually from under car and transmission did nothing.is the trans bad?
Sounds like the trans is bad to me. You should be calling the builder and telling him what's going on. Was it done local or from one of the major shops that ship?? I feel for you man! Keep us posted as to what's going on. Rod
So I cranked the car and lossed up the transmission lines that go to the radiator and nothing came out, does that mean that the pump is bad? If so what do I do? can I replace it?

7. Add a quart of new transmission fluid to the torque converter. Using the aid of a helper, stand the transmission on the tail shaft and carefully install the torque converter onto the transmission. Spin the torque converter and listen for 3 distinct clicks as it drops into the transmission.
You can do this in the car you can feel the torque converter lock in to the front pump. There should be about 1.25 inch front mounting tabs to flex plate when installed correctly. Then slide converter forward and bolt to flex plate.
