Default Broken Z06 Antenna

My 2002 Z06 came with the antenna broken off. I bought a replacement antenna but I realized it wont go on because the piece that threads on is broken off. Whats my options on fixing this? Can I replace the piece that comes out of the black base? Or is there an antenna delete kit and I use one of those high powered in car antennas?

Thanks

You can probably get to it and replace the broken piece through the Trunk. Do you have an FSM? If so look in that and itll tell you how to get to it. Should be to hard.

Thanks. I dont have an FSM. I have been looking at antenna parts online but I have no idea what part I would need. Is that metal threaded piece connected to the antenna wire? If so I guess I can buy a whole new wire.

The whole wire is a bear to replace, from what I've read. It appears that the fender skin has to be removed to get to all the attachment points. There has to be a better way.

On a C5Z the antenna is Not accessible from inside the trunk. There is no panel that you remove to gain access. In order to repair the broken threaded base you simply remove the right rear taillight. Once the light is out of the way you will see the antenna has a mounting bracket bolted to the rear tub with 2 8mm studs and nuts. You will also see a braided strap that is retained with a 10mm nut. The antenna base has some what of a ball on it that pushes through and pops into place in the rubber collar and plastic base that sits on the top/outside of rear fender. Remove all said nuts, turn the bracket towards you and away from the tub and use a light twisting motion as you pull down on the antenna base assembly and the base will pop out. You can then pull it out of the taillight hole. Reverse the procedure to install the replacement. I just finished installing L5 rear fenders on my '02 Z06 and wanted to keep my antenna so I just went through this procedure a few months ago. Hope this helps!

NO part of the radio antenna mounting is accessible from inside the trunk area on either the Hardtop models OR convertibles.

Thanks alot everyone. This really helps because I have pulled back the interior carpet and yes you cannot get to the antenna from there. Its good to know that you have to go through the tail light. Thanks again.

The only things accessed through the trunk compartment is for any electrical connectors (power antenna) and/or antenna co-ax connectors where they come through the rear bulkhead through the molded-on grommet.

Now where can I buy the parts to fix this? Would it be antenna base?

another option

I put a GM power antenna (like came in a convertible) on my Z06

when I did that in 2005, the part numbers and prices were:
Antenna 10285495 $90
Antenna bracket 10275748 $5

installed everything thru the tail light hole

had to run 12v to it but that let me put a hidden switch the driver can reach so the antenna will stay down when I want it to (like when playing CD)

and no hole in the car cover to mess with

Just replaced my 04Zs antenna with an electric one. As stated, all mounting is done thru the right taillight holes. But, to get to the
antenna connector, you need to get behind the carpet on the right rear.
It runs thru a rubber grommet to the trunk area. There is about 10 inches of antenna wire on the antenna assbly, with a female connector.
