I have a 03 z06 with a ecs novi 1500 kit on it. I was taking my wife a cruise and downshifted to 3rd and gassed it and it was pulling good when all of a sudden it seemed to lose power and check engine light started flashing. I went to advanced because it was near me and the code was "multiple cylinder misfire",upon popping my good I noticed the air filter tube came lose from the blower. I think this may have caused a boost spike. At low rpms there seems to he a miss, but upon giving it gas it seems to go away. Now I'm sweating bullets so to speak. Engine is to hot to pull the plugs,I'm hoping I didn't hurt it internally...
An open air intake leak means that "unmetered air" was entering your engine----Air coming in past the MAF--So consequently not enough fuel was being added for the added airflow---creating a LEAN condition --YES running it this way a long time can cause engine damage---But if you stopped it immediately it should be OK---Fix the air leak--and the random misfires should go away---I doubt than a short lean condition even with boost would cause permanent damage----Before looking at the plugs which should be OK--fix the leak--Dis connect the battery over-night to let your ECM reset itself and check it again

It wasn't the charge side that came loose,it was the air filter tube at the front of the charger. My undersyanding is ecs uses a restrictor plate to keep the boost @8-10 lbs and removing it will increase the boost to 15psi. So in theory with the tube coming off it may have seen 15psi....
My only other thought is maybe the boost a pump failed, but I'm not sure how to check it or where ECS even installs it at.....I guess one thing at a time!
So sorry to hear that My BAP along side my battery under my blower coolant reservoir. No idea where ECS puts them but I am sure a quick call will take care of that. Good luck brother.

Mine is behind the battery, and it still works. Idk what caused the piston to fail!
Hate to say it but that happens on #8 quite often. Last one to get fuel, and that cylinder is hotter than others. Some guys run a stage cooler spark plug on #8 to help deter detonation.
Thompson Motorsports are great guys! Can't go wrong.

Guess I learned the hard way! Now I'm trying to figure out if I can pull this engine from the top in my little 2 car garage!

You can pull it from the top no problem. Just watch the oil pan on the cradle. I did remove the heads, but don't think that's necessary.
I pulled mine from the top in a 2 car garage. Hardest part was telling the wife she had to park outside for a few days! You can see how much clearance you have in the 2nd pic.
Good luck. Glad your tackling it yourself!!
