Hi, I've been reading on this forum that the C5 and C6 differentials are swappable with the exception of the cradle mounting points (mounting face is identical). I just wanted to confirm for a project of mine, is this true?
I went and found some pictures of the C5/C6 differential (3 fin vs no fin design), the mounting faces look very similar though? Almost identical?
C5?
C6?
I have a C6 and I'm trying to figure how it bolts to a 4L60e, I had read online that any C5/C6 diff would bolt to the 4L60/80/TH350/700R4.. but I just don't see it happening.
I believe that is a 2005 C6 diff pictured. It is very weak and should not be used under any circumstance.
You best bet is to call RPM transmissions, as they make the adapter plate for most configurations. They will be able to tell you what you need for your project.
One more thing, the output shaft of the 4L60 is 27 spline. The pinion of the base C6 diff is 27 spline, but, the C6Z diff is 30 spline.
Somewhere along the C6 production, there are several changes to the differentials.
