Im getting tired of my stock brake pads. I keep cleaning my chrome wheels and when I get home from a short drive, it's like i did not clean then at all. What's a good replacement? Im talking low dusting but good stopping power. I dont mind if it needs time to warm up but I dont want squeaks
I know you don't want to hear this...but that was one of the reasons I ordered mine with the painted wheels (the dust doesn't show as much and I only have to clean them as often)...I knew that the brake dust would be a definite problem. As to what other pads will give off less dust...I will defer to those "in the know."
I just got the Raybestos QS pads from Peb Boys. Virtually no dust and quiet. They stop just about as well as the stock pads. I wash my car once per week, and now with the QS pads, the car is more is more dirty on Sunday than the wheels are.
I can personally recommend the GM ceramic pads. I ran stockers then Hawk performance pads. The GM ceramics are very quiet, stop as well or better than stock, and are the lowest dusting pad that I have ever used. The pad color is a light grey rather than black, so what dust does get on the chromies, doesn't show nearly as bad. Try em, you will not be disappointed.

I run the AC Delco Durastop ceramics on the GP and they are awesome, much better stopping power than the OEM pads once they wear in. They also have virtually NO DUST. What I found out on the GP boards was that the same manufacturer makes both the Rayestos Quiet Stops and the AC Delco Durastops and they are the exact same pad just with different branding. The Delcos are $$$ and the Raybestos are $$. I intend to swap to the Raybestos ones when the time comes, but I have also been hearing some good things about these from Wagner.... http://www.federal-mogul.com/wagner/...rmo_quiet.html
I switched to AC Delco ceramics a few months ago when I installed my eradispeed rotors. These are by far the best pads I have used for street driving. Stopping power is as good as stock and there is virturally no brake dust to deal with. What dust they do produce is light in color and barely noticible.

I also would highly recommend the GM ceramic pads..No dust and clean wheels...FINALLY:F
you don't KNOW what brake dust is 'til you see what the Z06 wheels look like after a "romp"!
I have heard good things about Raybestos Q/S also-but to me, good brakes=dust, I just keep at my chromies with the cleaner after each run. I like the brake action:)
Exactly.....but now I have Baer Eradispeeds rotors and my wheels don't get as dirty....I guess the holes and slots help with the dust.
Baer rotors, huh? Love the look of those too! did you keep your stock pads? no problem with warping? Might need to look into those.
What does everyone think of the Z Rated pads or the Carbon metallic pads from Performance Friction? Getting eradispeed + rotors installed this week, and those are the pads I bought...
Since I was going to continue to use the stock rotors, I looked at the Delco ceramic pads. Then I looked at the Raybestos QS ceramic pads. They looked identical to the Delco variety... down to the same numbers on the plastic bags that contained the backing pieces. But, the Raybestos were quite cheaper in price.
