After dealing with the local a s s holes and figuring out everyone if full of crap I called Cartek today to see about installing my 3.90s. The guys at cartek said they can install them but Dave has to do it and apparently dave is on vacation so when he gets back tuesday I am going to give him a call to schedule an appointment for next friday(crossing fingers) to get my rear setup. I am putting the car together with the hardened output shaft and the 3.42s for now. The hardened output shaft is a piece of cake to put in.

Re: 3.90 install will end in New Jersey.... (brent eb02)
Brent,
Seeing that you live in NJ do you think its a good idea to make the drive from Maryland to NJ on my CCWs with Michelin Pilots? I have never seen the roads in NJ but everyone complains about them. Should I go the OEM rubber and wheels or the CCWs?

I told you it wasn't so easy. Everybody says they can do it until they get it opened up and then the story changes. I went through the same thing. Ended up costing nme as much as if I had just bought one already assembled. Glad you got it handled, though.

Assuming you'll be taking the NJ Turnpike pretty much all the way, I don't think you have much to worry about. The TP is uniformly decent as far north as Newark.
In almost four years of NJ driving I have encountered just a few serious, wheel-menacing situations -- (1) a *giant* bump on I-287N, left lane, mile 1, and (2) Hoboken streets in resurfacing-prep with manhole covers jutting straight up. (1) cost me a 17" BBS RX on a previous vehicle.

You should have no problem using your wheel/tire setup for driving to Cartek, and you surely won' t have any problem with the 3.90 gear install. They even have spare sets or ring & pinions in stock. :yesnod:
