I have a corvette c5 1999 edition with an automatic transmission, I encountered a problem with the transmission as I put the gear into reverse everything work properly but when I put it in drive or 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear nothing works the car stays neutral. Can anyone suggest any advice on what this encounter might be please.
So Park, Reverse and Neutral work as supposed and the problem is with the other gears? Do you "feel" that it is indeed changing when you go to D, etc, or you get like a "loose" or "different" feedback?
I'd think broken sun shell or stripped rear sun gear. The shell is prone to breaking or stripping the splines where it attaches to the rear planetary set.
I'm sure a 4l60 guru will chime in soon.
In the picture the piece he's holding should still be attached to the sun shell.

The trans has to come out and be disassembled for repair. I wouldn't suggest tackling this yourself unless you've rebuild transmissions before.
If your looking for a stock replacement you could find one at a junk yard but who knows if and for how long it will last. On the other hand if your looking for something with a little to a lot more strength I'd call RPM Transmissions and talk with Jeremy. Tell him Cameron sent you.
I would 1st check the "PRNDL" switch assembly mounted on the driver's side of the trans---This switch must be calibrated to match with the gear selection from the gearshift--
On a C5 the PRNDL switch has a plastic bushing on the linkage that is prone to breaking--
1st make sure that the bushing is not broken and if it is not broken then make sure it is adjusted correctly to match the gearshift position----
