Default Need Part Number Confirmation (HVAC Actuators)

I need to replace my blend door actuators. I have a '98 with dual climate control. Rockauto has AC Delco part #1572971. Is that the correct part? Is there anything else that should be changed while the dash is pulled?

change 'em both....trust me on this and make sure they work before you put it back together

you can get them both for under $90.....I did for my 99...I am at work now and can't get you the part number....if you order from Rock Auto make sure you do the proper cross reference from AC Delco to aftermarket

The part number I get out of my parts book is 89018365 actuator for the auto controller. Pricey little thing retails around $200 dollars.

I looked on rock auto and that number you have above is in front of the number I posted. I think you are OK! The GM number starting with 89 is from a c5 parts book. The 1572971 is right.

Yes, I had the 89xxxxxx reference number written down in my notes, so that looks like it should be good. Thanks!

Many people, including myself have use the Dorman part. The one for auto climate control is 604-106. It is about 75 dollars or less if you shop around.

Yes, do them both. It takes at least 30 seconds to change the actuators after the 3-4 hours to pull the dash pad. If one went bad the other is just behind.

Change the 4 way flasher module. It's mounted to the underside of the dash pad. You really don't want to spend 3-4 hours to replace a flasher relay. (what were they thinking?)

Thanks for the all the input. I sourced pricing for the AC Delco parts and estimated about 5 hours of labor and came up with an estimate of roughly $750 to get the job done. The local Vette shop quoted me $950. In the end, I decided to just let them take care of it. For a couple hundred dollars more they will use genuine GM parts, ensure that they are working when installed and guarantee the installation for a year.

I would do it and give you that guarantee for that price

how did you know your doors needed replacement? I've just pulled codes from my '01 (after a lengthy battery disconnect and interior removal), and the HVAC codes advises 'right actuator out of range'...what? thoughts?

thanks

I was getting the following codes

B0361 Left Actuator Feedback short to GND
B0363 Left Actuator Feedback Open
B0446 Right Actuator Out of Range

I could also hear the blend doors constantly opening and closing behind the dash.

Just be carefull with the Ebay ones even if it says original AcDelco, my driver side actuator was failing & since I tooke complete dash out i thought better replace the passenger side as well, so I purchased 2 actuators and fitted them, now my driver side works great but on my passenger side the blend door does not go all the way down so still warm air is coming in to the car, I recalibrated many times with no luck, pulled fuses no luck.
I then put my old actuator back which was still okay and it works great again, the blend door goes al the way down and closes the warm air outlet.

I did see on the old right actuator a label with no. & a capital "R" probably for right side but works for left as well, but a fake actuator will probably only work for left side but most certainly not for the right hand side.
I will now order an original ACDELCO actuator so I can finish this job.

Nobody else had this problem ??

The actuators for the left and right side are the same part.
